Gather Your Tools…
Sketchbook
Sketchbooks are a great place to organize, share, and grow your creative passion. It doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you start. Pick up a book, a post-it pad, or your tax bill. Just start!
Pencil
Any pencil, pen, crayon, or finger dipped in chocolate pudding will do. Just grab some sort of utensil to make marks with and start making those marks!
Your Artist Self
We don’t want the at work you, the parent you, or the you that watches football. We want the real you. The one that answers to no one. The one that misses silence, sleeping in, and 3 a.m. snack time.
No, not really. You need two things: something to make art with and something to make art on. Bring what you got. A post-it, a cereal box, a sidewalk, or even a canvas. A sketchbook is just a good place to organize, track progress, and grow, all in one convenient place.
No, not really. You need something to make art WITH. Bring what you got or what you want. A pencil, a broken crayon, mud, or get fancy and grab a fountain pen.
Nothing at all, but… If you can let go of all those other selves and embrace your artist self, everyone of them will reap the benefits.
Art is a Journey, Not a Destination…
Nothing matters more to me in this world than helping you find your way in art. Creating art, or less than art, is not only beneficial for the outside world. It is something that we crave. I know you feel it. It creeps in randomly, you probably ignore it with a wave of your hand, forcing it to dissolve back into the nothingness. But in this always on society we live in, our focus is constantly being wasted on the external. We are hyper focused on what is out there and where we fit into all that chaos. The truth is, we probably don’t want to. Sometimes we feel we have to. But fudge all that. Enter that nothingness and bring back what is meant to be!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
